抒情爵士： JUST THE TWO OF US

薩克斯風手小格羅佛．華盛頓﹝Grover Washington Jr.﹞是第一位以流行手法結合節奏藍調與爵士樂演奏的超級巨星。1975年他就以一曲"Mister Magic"打進流行單曲排行榜，不過將他推上高峰的卻是1981年與靈魂抒情歌手Bill Withers合作的亞軍單曲"Just The Two Of Us"。這首樂曲以加勒比海的節奏為主並伴以搖擺感十足的薩克斯風演奏與隨樂聲飄搖的靈魂樂演唱，不但因此贏得葛萊美獎，從此小格羅佛．華盛頓的許多名曲都運用了加勒比海的輕鬆節拍來吸引人。比如改編Bob Marley的一曲"Jamming"與邀請爵士名鼓手Grade Tate擔任演唱的暢銷單曲"Be Mine Tonight"都是動人無比的抒情唱奏。
