Introduction
The purpose of VCMI project is to rewrite entire HOMM 3: [wiki]WoG[/wiki] engine from scratch, giving it new and extended possibilities. We are hoping to support mods and new towns already made by fans, but abandoned because of game code limitations.
VCMI is fan-made open-source project in progress. We already allow support for maps of any sizes, higher resolutions and extended engine limits. However, although working, the game is not finished. There are still many features and functionalities to add, both old and brand new.
As yet VCMI is not standalone program, it uses Wake of Gods files and graphics. You need to install WoG before running VCMI.

Support
We are open project and seek for your help or advice. If you are interested in game modding, know C++, can edit graphics or just have a good idea - don't hesitate. Every contribution is welcome.
For testers:
- Download latest VCMI and extract it to your WoG root folder
- Play the game, test different conditions and options, make screenshots and save logs
- Report bugs on our board. See list of already known issues
For C++ programmers:
- Ask one of project leaders for application and libraries
- Download VCMI sources at SVN Repository
- Submit patch with your code changes
For graphicans:
- Find a suitable font for game text
- Design and make interface for higher resolutions
- Rework any existing images in 32-bit quality with transparence
For everyone:
- Share your projects and ideas
- Ask for support for your mod
- Find people interested to help you
