來自紐約長島的八○年代青春玉女偶像歌手黛比吉布森1987年以17歲的稚齡推出暢銷3白金的首張專輯「Out Of The Blue」，並從其中發行五支單曲，"Only In My Dreams"、"Shake Your Love"、"Out Of The Blue"都洋溢著青春的舞曲氣息，到了"Foolish Beat"抒情的旋律終於拿下單曲冠軍。1989年初「Electric Youth」專輯乘勝推出，甜美的歌喉與鄰家女孩的形象仍然大受歡迎，其中"Lost In Your Eyes"又是冠軍曲，也是黛比個人演唱生涯的代表作。進入九○年代後20歲的黛比亟卻擺脫偶像歌手歌路開始轉型，於是出版「Anything Is Possible」和「Body Mind Soul」兩張偏向搖滾的專輯。黛比較其他偶像歌手最大不同就在於寫曲與製作的能力，不光只靠年輕與臉蛋，這可得歸功她5歲拜師學習鋼琴，6歲嘗試詞曲創作並在經紀人指導下研習演奏、錄音、製作、編曲等相關課程等等的努力。
