The VCMI guys have just announced the release of their latest build: 0.54.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the project,the short story is that VCMI attempts to rewrite the H3 engine in a newfashion, picking up the baton where WoG left off. The aim is tosuccessfully merge both Heroes 3 and WoG within a new program writtenfrom the ground up, a new, free and efficient code "promising to putevery imaginary change at your fingertips".
Now, as the more perceptive of you might have noticed, build 0.54implies something not yet quite finished. Indeed, the authors areasking volunteers to come forward and test their new "baby", and tocomment and discuss the latest developments, thus helping them polishthe program into a finished product.

Hello all fans of Heroes of Might and Magic!
After months of hard work in hiding we founded this board to communicate with people from outside of our Team.
We're faithful fans of the Heroes of Might and Magic saga for manyyears now. Especially the third part is close to our hearts. It hasgreat possibilities, an unbelievable playability "life" and wonderful,detailed 2D graphics. The expansions - SoD and AB were also great andhave expanded the possibilities of one of my favourite games. It isalso why I like the idea of the 'In the Wake of Gods' add-on so much.
Unfortunately WoG is reaching its limits concerning itspossibilities. The lack of the source code makes it impossible to addmany things which fans would want in the game. And even theextraordinary skills of Slava with the reverse engineering processesaren't enough here. Some things just aren't possible to do for a humanworking with the machine code. WoG reaches the limits more and moreoften - the best example being the 256 creature limit.
Because of our knowledge in computer science and experience indeveloping C++ projects we wanted to develop an executable. As creatingnew features for WoG in high - level language is impossible (lack ofsource code) we decided to write one. We named our project VCMI andstarted to develop it on May 2007.
We want to rewrite the entire H3 engine giving it newpossibilities. Over seven months of intensive work resulted in creatingapplication with impressive amount of features. Here is list ofselected VCMI's features:
- full def, lod and snd handling
- almost complete h3m handling (about 97% done) - including RoE, AB, SoD and WoG maps openability
- selecting single player maps and choosing start options
- displaying map surface with roads, rivers and objects, displaying adventure map GUI
- moving heroes, interactions with some objects (ie. collecting resources)
- interactive minimap
- almost complete hero screen, significant advances with town screen.

虽然要从头开始。不过以后可以继续发展。应该会有无限的潜力。

图片是海盗城...但是和VCMI应该不是同一个项目... 呃~~~,;ym; 还是要等啊... 是mod? 不是MOD,不过还是要继续等!!:buxie: :buxie: 不是mod,不如说是新东西……外表一样的新东西 期待
